The Cold-War-era generalization places countries in two distinct groups; The North and the South. The North is comprised of all First World countries and most Second World countries while the South is comprised of Third World countries. WebAfter the war of 1812 the difference between the North and South began to increase. The North began an Industrial system, and the South began a system of Slavery and Plantations. The South’s agricultural society slavery was seen as a need to further growth, but the North’s distinguishing value was freedom.
